Federal Health Minister Dr. Carsten Linnemann to serve as patron of the DMEA 2027 in Munich

The DMEA 2027 will kick off its inaugural edition at its new location in Munich with high-level political participation: Federal Minister of Health Dr. Carsten Linnemann (CDU) will open the event in the Bavarian capital on April 13, 2027.

Linnemann thus succeeds his predecessor, Nina Warken, who announced in March that she would serve as patron of DMEA 2027 and participate in the opening ceremony. Following the change in leadership at the Federal Ministry of Health at the end of July, it is now confirmed that the new minister will serve as patron of the DMEA and personally open the event. With his keynote address, he will kick off the political proceedings for Europe’s leading digital health event.

“We are very pleased that Federal Minister of Health Dr. Carsten Linnemann will serve as patron of DMEA 2027 and will personally open the event,” explains Sascha Raddatz, Managing Director of the German Association for Healthcare IT Vendors – bvitg e. V., the organizer of DMEA. “The digital transformation of the healthcare system is one of the major health policy challenges of the coming years and requires close collaboration between policymakers, healthcare providers, and industry. It will be crucial to consistently implement digital solutions in practice—and the DMEA provides the central platform for this.”

Digital Health between policy framework and practical implementation

As Europe’s leading event for digital health, DMEA brings together decision-makers from all areas of healthcare—from IT specialists and medical staff to hospital and nursing executives, as well as experts from politics, business, and academia. The focus is on key issues in the digital transformation of the healthcare system: the use of health data and electronic health records, the application of artificial intelligence, connected care, cybersecurity, regulatory requirements, and market access for digital innovations. In particular, the event addresses the question of how digital applications and infrastructures can be successfully translated more quickly and effectively from political and technological concepts into concrete healthcare practice.

The DMEA is organized by the German Association for Health IT Vendors – bvitg e. V. and will be held for the first time at the Munich Trade Fair Center from April 13 to 15, 2027.
