The DMEA Call for Papers is open to all stakeholders in the healthcare industry and related sectors. We seek innovative, practical, and forward-looking contributions that provide new impetus for digital healthcare.

When is the submission period for the Call for Papers?

The open call ran from September 15 to October 15, 2025, for DMEA 2026.

Information on the DMEA 2027 Call for Papers will be available here starting in summer 2026.

What criteria must be considered when submitting a presentation?

The respective session chairs are responsible for the content design and selection of presentations for each session. They base their decisions on the following weighting:

  • Practical benefit for users and relevance to the session (25%)
  • Technical quality, originality, and degree of innovation of the contribution (content, methodology, framework conditions): 30%
  • Structure, clarity, and comprehensibility of the abstract (15%)
  • Adequate consideration of regulatory and legal aspects (15%)
  • Contribution to the internationality and diversity of the session (15%)

What are the guidelines for the structure?

Guidelines for the structure of the abstract

Length
The abstract should be between 2,500 and 3,500 characters (including spaces).

1. Title
The title should reflect the content of the presentation as precisely as possible.

2. Introduction, Motivation, and Research Questions
This section provides a brief introduction to the topic and explains the motivation for developing or implementing software or an organizational concept. If applicable, it may describe key research questions to be addressed in the presentation.

3. Materials, Methods, and Tools
This section briefly explains the methods and tools used for analysis, selection, and implementation.

4. Description of the Solution (Application Software or Implementation Concept)
The solution used and its key functions are briefly described. For conceptual approaches, the focus is on the underlying concepts.

5. Results, Experiences, and Lessons Learned
The congress aims to provide participants with in-depth insights into topics, as well as practical experience using software solutions and organizational concepts. Accordingly, this section is the core of the abstract and highlights insights to be shared with the industry.

Present the current implementation status of the solution, experiences from selection, implementation, and operation, and the “lessons learned.” Recommendations for similar projects are particularly relevant here. As a presenter, you will contribute your expertise and help the audience successfully overcome their own challenges.

6. Discussion and Outlook
Finally, the results are discussed, and an outlook on further development or planned next steps is provided.

Can the same presentation be submitted in multiple categories?

We advise against this, as each submission should be specifically tailored to a particular conference theme.

What costs will I incur?

Participation in the DMEA Call for Papers is free of charge. There are no fees for submitting a presentation or for its potential inclusion in the program.

How can I increase my chances of a successful submission?

Here are four tips for a compelling abstract:

  • Follow the provided structure when writing the abstract.
  • Tailor the content specifically to the chosen thematic focus.
  • Avoid promotional content and emphasize the scientific focus or knowledge transfer instead.
  • Make the presentation practical – user-focused presentations are particularly in demand.

Who should I contact if I have problems submitting my presentation?
